UK 's High-Point Rendel wins US LNG contract

- High-Point Rendel, the UK-based international consulting firm, said it has been appointed by Northern Star LNG of the US to assist in the permitting process for its new receiving terminal in the state of Oregon.
High-Point Rendel said it will undertake the preliminary design and layout of the terminal which is to be located at Bradwood Landing on a 420-acre site on the southern shore of the Columbia River .
The design will include a jetty head fitted with cryogenic loading arms to transfer LNG to onshore storage tanks. The terminal will receive LNG carriers in the 100,000-200,000m ³ range and transport gas from Pacific Basin natural gas suppliers, including Alaska .
The LNG will be pumped ashore to two 160,000m ³ tanks for temporary storage prior to being vaporised and then fed, through a 36-inch diameter pipeline, to join the Williams Northwest pipeline system which supplies Washington State and the Pacific Northwest of America.
