RasGas adds to supply for its new LNG train
Doha, Aug 4 (LNG journal)
- Qatar's liquefied natural gas company, RasGas, said production has started from its offshore Wellhead Platform 5 located at Ras Laffan's "B" block, adding 4.7 million tonnes per annum to existing production of 11.55m tonnes.
As gas starts to flow from the wellhead, RasGas said offshore output becomes available for commissioning work at the onshore LNG Train 4, which is near completion.
RasGas, which is 70 percent held by state-owned Qatar Petroleum and 30 percent by ExxonMobil, is planning to more than double output over the next four years. Qatar 's other LNG operator, QatarGas, has similar aspirations.
The gas production "adds strategic value to our production base at RasGas," said Hamad Al-Muhannadi, operations manager. "It is the fruit of the dedication shown all along by our teams, who have managed to achieve this success with no recordable incidents or accidents.'
