LNG imports to US hit 3-year low for month Houston, Aug 8 (LNG journal)
- Imports of liquefied natural gas to the US are likely to be at a three-year low for August due to exceptional circumstances, including US receiving terminal turnarounds and increased demand from Spain that's reducing imports to the East Coast.

Planned maintenance and repairs on a jetty line at Atlantic LNG's Point Fortin export facility in Trinidad will reduce output by four or five cargoes by the end of the month, according to US consulting firm CSC.

This shortfall, combined with continued high demand from Spain for imports, and planned maintenance at the Cove Point terminal in the US state of Maryland , will have an affect on US import numbers for August.

Cove Point imports will be hit the hardest as only four vessels are expected to discharge there, which is almost half of the volume expected during a typical month, CSC said.

In addition to the Cove Point maintenance, Atlantic LNG's Point Fortin in Trinidad will be down for planned maintenance for 10 days during this month, CSC said. Another US terminal, Elba Island , at Savannah , Georgia , is also likely to be below capacity for the month.
