LNG

The most important recent LNG conference held in Japan and hosted by the government has seen producers and buyers hold their positions as regards oilindexed prices paid by East Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea.

The Ichthys LNG project in Australia being developed by Japan's Inpex Corp. and French company Total has rubberstamped its seal of quality by opening a deluxe village for workers in Darwin.

International LNG trade has undergone a considerable increase in recent years, with a growth rate of 120 percent since 2000. This increment of LNG demand has generated growth in the global LNG carrier fleet.

Leading international classification society Bureau Veritas has responded to the demand for safe LNG transportation in the Arctic regions by developing new high-level tools to assess cargo sloshing in ice conditions.
